Sometimes you see things so strange that you can't believe that they are true. It seems to happen a lot on Anglesey, but maybe that's because I try to keep up with the news here, and in reality it is happening everywhere.
Or is there more than meets the eye here?
It may be my age. but I see stupidity everywhere. Take this news today from Daily Post North Wales:

SCENIC beach could have an “eyesore” road ploughed through it – withtaxpayers forced to foot the bill.

A public inquiry will decide if thousands of pounds in ratepayers cashshould be spent on the highway across Borthwen beach at Rhoscolyn.

The road would only provide access to a handful of holiday homes and becovered by the sea at high tide and require huge maintenance.

Villagers have slammed the plan as an unnecessary “eyesore” and a wasteof public money at a time when

Services are being slashed.

The public inquiry in Holyhead next month will first decide if the“alleged highway” already exists in law.

Then it must rule if it should be maintained at public expense withAnglesey council having to pay the bill.

Opponent Sian Cooke said: “People are furious that they could have topay for a eyesore road across a beautiful beach just to give access to a fewholiday homes.

“This would be a blot on the landscape and who wants to bring their kidsto a beach that has a road running through it, there are safety issues here aswell as it would be hazardous.

“The main issue is the damage to this beach but the cost to taxpayers isalso important.

“This road would be built on sand and the sea would cover it at hightide, imagine what the maintenance costs will be like.

“The public inquiry alone will cost thousands of pounds.

“The properties have access at the rear on a private road, I don’t seewhy a new road is needed on the beach.”

A notice has been issued about the inquiry that will take place atHolyhead Town Hall on November 22.

The crux of the matter will be whether there was an existing publichighway along that part of the beach.

Anglesey council legal services manager Robyn Wyn Jones said: “Theissues which the inquiry will consider will include whether the alleged highwayexists in law at all.

“If it is, whether it is maintainable at the public expense, and if so,what appropriate standard of maintenance is required in law to be undertaken bythe Highway Authority.”

After the inquiry the planning inspector will consider all of theevidence and representations made and subsequently make a report andrecommendations to the council.

Anglesey council will then consider the report and determine whatactions are appropriate.

A WOMAN who tragically lost two elder brothers at sea in the Second World War has welcomed the start of work to renovate the Cenotaph in Holyhead where they are commemorated.

Retired nurse Sarah Jones was just a schoolgirl in the Anglesey town when her brothers Ernest and Idris John Jones died, at sea like so many men from the port who served with the Royal and Merchant Navies."

Trip to Cemaes

Set off for Cemlyn with a view to walking over to the Church - Alas the car park was flooded and so decided to go to Cemaes and walk up to the brickworks and then down to the beach. We were impressed with the new footpaths and other work done, and enjoyed the walk in the sun.

The car park at the beach was busy, well it is half term, and there were plenty of kids with buckets and spades waiting for the tide to go further out.

Went to Cemlyn later and wondered how it will change over the next couple of year.
